Zupt Completes 150th Inertial Metrology

Zupt, USA, has recently completed its 150th inertial metrology. Zupt has done metrologies in the North Sea, Central America, the Gulf of Mexico and several locations offshore West Africa where it continues to operate within multi-year service contracts. Zupt sees as its quality the substantial vessel/operational time savings for customers, while still delivering exceptional precision.

Since its inaugural metrology in February of 2009 Zupt has constantly strived to improve its Subsea Precise Inertial Navigation System (C-PINS). Recently, it improved the tooling and handling hardware to deliver more accurate attitude data while reducing the demands on the ROV pilot.

Well Marker Buoy Positioning

Zupt has recently applied C-PINS for well marker buoy positioning. C-PINS is a tool to use for relative positioning around subsea structures. For a recent job in the Gulf of Mexico C-PINS was selected as it was the most operationally efficient technique for accurately setting buoy patterns to mark spud and re-spud drill locations.
