Call for Entries to 2012 Calendar Contest

CARIS (Canada) is encouraging users of its software to enter their geospatial datasets, maps, charts or 3D views to the 2012 CARIS Calendar Contest. The Contest represents an opportunity to showcase their favourite images created with this software.

All winning images will be featured in the 2012 CARIS Calendar, which is distributed to thousands of mapping and charting agencies, port authorities, survey companies and academic institutions around the world. The images are also viewed by tens of thousands of visitors to the CARIS website, and past submissions have been published on front covers of prestigious international GIS, science and engineering journals.

The 2012 CARIS Calendar Contest represents the sixth year in which the Contest has taken place, and every year the Contest has gained in popularity and in the quality of the entries. Submissions have been entered that have utilised the variety of CARIS' GIS software solutions, including bathymetry images using HIPS and SIPS and Bathy DataBASE, nautical charts using HPD and S-57 Composer and web mashups using Spatial Fusion Enterprise.

Alex Palmer, marketing supervisor at CARIS, commented: "It is always a joy to view the submitted images from our passionate user base, and the feedback from the thousands of organisations that receive the CARIS Calendar shows that they also share our enthusiasm."

The overall winner, as chosen by a CARIS panel, receives a four feet by three feet mounted copy of their winning image. The deadline for submissions to the 2012 CARIS Calendar Contest is 16th September 2011.
