Strong DP Focus at Europe & Africa IMCA Section Meeting

Dynamic positioning (DP) figures prominently on the agenda for the next meeting of the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA’s) Europe & Africa section meeting being held in Paris on 3 March 2016. IMCA members, and non-members from organisations wishing to learn more about IMCA and its activities, are welcome at the free-to-attend meeting, which features five presentations on various aspects of DP. There will also be a facility to join the meeting via a webinar link.

Following a welcome by Pascal Grosjean, IMCA Europe & Africa Section Chairman, including background on IMCA and its activities, there will be an update on technical and regulatory work being undertaken by the association. After a regional update from a representative from Technip, the day is entirely committed to consideration of, and discussion on, DP activities and challenges.

Dirk Martens, head of Marine Department, Total S.A. will talk on ‘The marine assurance process from a client’s perspective with specifics about the requirements in relation to DP’ to be followed by Ekkehard Stade, managing director, Global Maritime looking at ‘Complexity vs. Competence – new requirements for key DP personnel?’. A networking lunch follows.

After the lunch break Bruno Delannoy, manager of Machinery, Electricity/Automation and Safety, Design Assessment Department, Bureau Veritas will take ‘Lessons to be learnt from DP system upgrades and the classification process’ as his topic; to be followed by Alex Karlsen, Principle specialist DP DNV GL with a ‘DP Capability Assessment Project update’. The final speaker of the day is Chris Dixon, vice president OSM / Director of HSE, Bourbon Offshore, talking about ‘DP – Operational Challenges’. A discussion and Q&A session brings the day to an end.

Those wishing to attend or to obtain the links to join the meeting via a webinar link, should email Parul Patel or phone +44 (0)20 7824 5520.
