Survey Contract for Project Nemo

MMT has recently been awarded a contract for Seabed Survey & Seasoil Sampling for the proposed Electrical Interconnector between UK and Belgium. The project is called ‘Project Nemo'. The project is being jointly developed by Elia Asset and National Grid International Ltd. (NGIL). The purpose of the survey is to determine the ecological, ground conditions and installation for the design and installation of the interconnector cable.

The scope of the contract includes Geotechnical, Geophysical, Benthic and Topographical survey campaigns. The surveys will support an ongoing desktop study to identify the route to be utilized for the installation of the interconnector cable. The cable corridor to be investigated is in total 130km long and 500m wide.

The survey operation will be conducted by MMT survey vessel IceBeam, length 40 metres. The vessel is fully equipped for survey activities in water depth between 10 - 250 metres. The survey set-up is optimal for the proposed survey area, with a maximum water depth of 145 meters. IceBeam will conduct all aspects of the offshore work, including geotechnical sampling and habitat mapping. MMT nearshore vessel, Ping, will be mobilised for survey activities in shallow waters.
