Fugro Satellite Positioning, a business line within the Fugro NV group of companies, is a leading supplier of high-performance satellite navigation products and services for marine and offshore applications. Fugro markets a range of products and services each optimised for specific applications. The Marinestar product line is designed to meet the demanding requirements of users in the government and commercial marine sectors. Applications include naval vessels such as mine hunters, scientific and oceanographic research vessels, hydrographic survey vessels, dredgers and a wide range of other coastal and inshore users requiring decimetre level positioning.
Fugro Marinestar services support not only the American GPS satellite navigation system but also the Russian GLONASS system. Indeed under its ‘All in Sky’ policy Fugro is committed to incorporating other GNSS systems, such as the Chinese Compass system currently under development, as they become operational.
The Marinestar GNSS service provides decimetre level positioning, not just horizontally but also in height, to a consistent level of accuracy with no dependence on costly or vulnerable shore based infrastructure. This means that the user can be operational as soon as the vessel is on site.
Marinestar precise positioning services can be received not only on Marinestar brand receivers, such as the Marinestar 9205 GNSS receiver, but also on compatible hardware from other leading manufacturers offering systems customised for highly specific marine applications.
