You will primarily undertake the office based verification of complex bathymetric data gathered by RN or commercial hydrographic surveyors. More than this though, as an influential figure in our renowned ‘Seabed Data Centre’, you will help shape worldwide hydrographic procedures and techniques. This includes developing junior members of the verification team, investigating new data collection methods, creating new procedures, representing UKHO at overseas conferences and on IHO working groups, and providing consultation and training to foreign hydrographic organisations.

Ideally, you will hold an IHO/FIG “Cat A” accreditation. More important is that you can rise to the mathematical and statistical challenges inherent in handling dense bathymetric data. A hydrographic surveying degree and significant experience of planning, acquiring, processing or verifying multi-beam, swathe or LIDAR bathymetric surveys are clearly essential.

This is a Ministry of Defence non-reserved post and is therefore open to UK, British Commonwealth and European Economic Area nationals. Candidates should normally have been resident in the UK for at least the last five years.
