Description:
- Lead in assembling and positioning drill and other equipment, using hand and power tools
- Operate an underground core drill to drill or ream vertical or inclined NQ to HQ boreholes to a depth of 600 ft. and probe exiting boreholes to 600 ft
- Drilling should be conducted in such a manner to maximize core recovery and maintain alignment within 2% of design
- Perform downhole testing of borings
- Monitor drilling operations, checking gauges and listening to equipment to assess drilling conditions and to determine the need to adjust drilling or alter equipment
- Handle drill rods and core tubes
- Lead equipment maintenance and repair
- Clean equipment and keep working area clean and free of debris
- Handle core to include removing from tube, placing in core box and labeling boxes
- Interpret service manuals and schematics for drilling equipment
- Operate and maintain a high pressure grout plant
- Knowledgeable of grouting techniques and associated tooling to support grouting of high pressure/flow drains
- Safely operate and maintain hydro-broom
- Operate and maintain hydro-flush equipment
- Operate down-hole video camera and document results using a computer
- Use computer programs to enter daily work
- Assist in ROV deployment, maintenance and tether management
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses, repair, and maintenance
- Ability to keep accurate records of work being performed
- Basic computer skills
- High School Diploma or GED
Working Conditions:
- Frequently lift and/or move 40 to 70 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds
- Regularly required to stand, bend and twist, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, talk or hear, and reach above the shoulder with hands and arms
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, walk and sit
- Regularly performs repetitive work involving use of hands and wrists
- Ability to work underground for extended periods of time (100%)
- Must be able to work in inclement weather
Test Required:
This job requires recommended test results from the EEI Power Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS) aptitude test.
