Graduate Level Engineer: Makai’s design group is looking for a talented and fast-learning graduate level ocean/mechanical/civil engineer, preferably with some outside work experience, to assist in project development, design analysis, detailed design tasks and construction management duties. Areas of work will include design of deep water pipelines from concept to a detailed design level, design of Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) plants and components, hydrodynamic modeling of submerged pipelines, structural analysis and design, assist in deep ocean bathymetric and oceanographic surveys, writing proposal and reports, and a variety of other ocean engineering project responsibilities. Ability to think and write clearly and to learn new skills are important assets for this position. A strong working knowledge of MS Office Software is required, and knowledge of Autocad and Orcaflex are desirable skills. An ideal candidate would have an MS in Ocean Engineering, a BS in Mechanical or Civil Engineering and some relevant work experience in ocean industry or an academic research setting. Candidates with an MS in Mechanical or Civil Engineering with knowledge or experience in ocean or water industry related fields such as hydrodynamics, hydraulics, fluid dynamic systems, or renewable energy technologies would be equally desirable. The minimum requirement for consideration is an MS in one of the aforementioned engineering disciplines. Candidates should be U.S. citizens or possess a green card.
