The Multiple Corers can sample from 4 up to 12 cores in a single deployment and are easy to deploy and operate. The corers collect the undisturbed sediment sample together with overlying supernatant water, which provides a unique insight into the sediment water interface. The rugged frame of the corers is made of 316 stainless steel and the core tubing itself of acrylic. Each has a deployment rate of approximately 1 metre per second on the descent and can be retrieved at winch speed thanks to the unique hydrostatic sealing mechanism which positively seals the sediment.
