Early Warning Detection System Order30/01/2008 |
| L-3 Communications Klein Associates, Inc. has received its fourth consecutive order for a HarborGuard Early Warning Detection System to be installed on an offshore construction vessel operating in coastal waters. This award validates L-3 Klein's concept and vision that moving vessels, as well as fixed platforms, require advanced warning capability of approaching unauthorized or threatening craft. |

This system, based on a layered approach, provides the ability to detect, assess and deter threats. First, multiple small target detection radars provide 360° coverage. In addition, long range infrared cameras allow identification and assessment of potential threats. Finally, Long Range Acoustic Device (LRAD) units are used to engage the threat with clear, audible warning messages.
All sensor information is combined on an integrated operator console providing the necessary display, monitoring and automatic alarm functions of the system. A remote access capability allows the home office to view critical system operations during elevated threat conditions or for remote training and support activities.
