全mall2' European Gold Charts

  27/03/2008
To compliment their XL9 size charts, Navionics delivers the Small2-size charts for Europe, available in Gold format. Designed to provide the coverage for small boat owners, Small2-size charts can fit in all existing Gold-compatible units.

The vectorised S2 charts - similar to any Navionics Gold chart - are developed using the Navionics exclusive full Seamless Technology, which provides clearly legible charts without clutter, holes or discontinuities at every zoom level. With the same details of the current huge XL9 charts at up to 16 zoom levels, S2 charts offer a wealth of information on navaids, tide and currents, port services, wrecks - details greatly appreciated by sports fishermen and navigators alike.

S2 cartography is available on pre-programmed generic SD (Secure Digital) or CF (Compact Flash) cartridges that are readily available with expandable memory for future developments. Navionics charts are compatible with leading chartplotters such as Eagle, Furuno, Geonav, Humminbird, Lowrance, Northstar, Raymarine, and many PC based navigation software, such as Fugawi, PC-Plotter, SeaPro, SW&N or Yacht Control.

The plug-and-play feature of the charts eliminates the need for consumers to download CDs or unlock codes.

MCA on Surveying the British Coast

Rob Spillard explains how the MCA is conducting hydrographic surveys, including the history of British hydrographic surveying, latest developments in technology and wreck research projects, sometimes accompanied by a BBC TV camera crew. This movie includes an example of the discovery of two sunken WWI submarines off the Orkney Islands.
