MacArtney Offshore MD Appointed

  29/04/2008
Chris Howerter is very happy to be named as Lars Hansen's successor as General Manager of MacArtney Offshore, Inc. in Houston, Texas. Lars Hansen will be returning to Denmark in August. Until then, Chris Howerter will train for the position as the Deputy General Manager.

Chris Howerter received his Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. From there, he began his career as a Mechanical Design Engineer with Oceaneering Space Systems at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. He was involved in the design, manufacturing, and testing of astronaut tools and logistics equipment for International Space Station construction. He also worked for Oceaneering International's Remote Projects Engineering group on various deepwater work class ROV upgrades.

After five years, Chris Howerter took a position as Project Manager with Astro Technology Inc. of Houston, TX. While there, he directed manufacturing, testing, and installation of two cutting-edge fiber optic deepwater riser monitoring systems in the Gulf of Mexico.

Much of the infrastructure hardware for these projects was procured through MacArtney Offshore. He gained extensive knowledge of deepwater high pressure environments and their effects on various technologies, as well as management of projects in the offshore oil and gas industry. At the end of those projects, he briefly returned to Oceaneering as a Project Engineer, where he managed several NASA projects and business development proposals.

In March, 2008, he accepted the challenge of filling Lars Hansen's shoes in Houston.
