In 2005-2006 Fugro OCEANOR delivered the WAVESCAN buoys through their local representative in China, Benewell International. Fugro OCEANOR installed the buoys and has been assisting their client and representative with maintenance services since then.
This comprehensive environmental monitoring suite enables China Olympic Sailing to acquire data in advance of the 2008 Olympic Games to build an understanding of the environmental conditions there and also to monitor the conditions in near real-time during the event. The waves, currents and meteorological parameters will provide critical information to the sailing competitors. The water quality data are being used to help monitor and protect the marine environment in the area of the Games.
