A recent example of such activity carried out by Kongsberg Maritime is the conversion of the the Odin shuttle tanker into the Alvheim FPSO for the Marathon Oil Company. The project required the integration of both the existing marine and new topside control systems, a highly technical challenge that required an organised approach from day one as the project was tendered as two separate contracts, but with the overall goal of complete integration between the hull and topsides. It was a complex scenario and complex delivery, but one that through systems and project management experience was completed on time and within budget.
