IMarEST Marine Partner Role For THMA

The THMA project, which was started 12 years ago primarily for Hull-based companies, is managed by the Shipbuilders and Shiprepairers Association (SSA) under contract to Yorkshire Forward Regional Development Agency. It has recently expanded dramatically covering all aspects of the industry from ship repair to consultancies, and operates on both sides of the River Humber. The project has now won a Grant from Yorkshire Forward that will provide assistance for a 3-year period to establish and achieve aggressive targets and growth plans.

"Strength in numbers means higher levels of contracts are available to the group as a whole, providing an important incentive," explains Mike Albans-Jackson, Director of the SSA. "Best practice and personal professional development across the member companies are key to the success of the enlarged THMA project, and were our principal reason for finding out about, and then signing up to be an IMarEST Marine Partner involving the Institute in helping us provide these essential components. We will be working closely with the experts at IMarEST to ensure we meet the vital best practice and PPD objectives we have set ourselves."

IMarEST's Marine Partner initiative is a corporate partnership programme, with over 30 member organisations, that works on building relationships with marine and offshore organisations, and offers a customised package for each Marine Partner. "We are delighted to welcome THMA as a Marine Partner and look forward greatly to working with them in the coming months and years," says Keith Read CBE, Chief Executive of IMarEST.
