In 2003, Aqua Vision BV released the Plume Detection toolbox as part of their ViSea software product line. This sophisticated, real-time software package is built around the ADCP from Teledyne RD Instruments and calculates suspended solids (mg/l) based on a combination of complementary measuring techniques. The package is especially designed to monitor dredge activities and natural sediment behaviour. In the beginning of 2008, the third version was released. During these years, the outcome of the software was extensively examined by several governmental and research institutes worldwide.
