First Purpose-Built EM Survey Vessel19/12/2008 |
| Electromagnetic Geoservices ASA (EMGS) announced today that it has launched the world's first purpose-built EM survey vessel in order to enhance hydrocarbon exploration across the world. The new vessel, the BOA Thalassa, was built by Bergen Group Fosen and is leased from the owner BOA Offshore on a long-term charter. |
Terje Eidesmo, EMGS chief executive officer, commented, "This vessel is a product of more than a decade of experience from more than 400 surveys and 120 vessel months across the world's mature and frontier offshore basins. The introduction of this high-capacity vessel is a milestone for EMGS and our customers, as it will lead the way in a new-generation technology - 3D EM surveying."
A fully integrated spare equipment set and a new advanced on-board processing system will enhance the quality and improve the delivery time for EM data.
