3000 DEEP Digital Side-scan Sonar

  18/06/2009
L-3 Communications Klein Associates has changed the L-3 Klein System 3000 DEEP. Recent technological advances have allowed the L-3 Klein System 3000 DEEP to provide better imaging at great ocean depths. The upgraded Klein System 3000 DEEP has specially-designed transducers for operation at 3000 metres depth (or more). The outer housing of the L-3 Klein 3000 DEEP Towfish is fabricated from titanium for optimum pressure tolerance at maximum depths, even during extended periods of operation.

The L-3 Klein 3000 DEEP is designed to transmit data to the topside using standard coaxial tow cable during normal operations. For extended depth operations, the L-3 Klein 3000 DEEP utilises extended length Fiber Optic Cables. L-3 Klein offers a wide variety of proven fiber optic cables, fiber optic interface boards, and related devices to suit all required system configurations.

The L-3 Klein 3000 DEEP is the side-scan system of choice for deep seabed exploration in the Oil and Gas Industry. It is also perfect for surveys for marine insurance and for identification and recovery of underwater assets, even for locating lost aircraft and critical equipment lost at sea in both the commercial and military sectors. Deep search and recovery is one of the primary applications of the L-3 Klein 3000 DEEP - the Klein 3000 DEEP has been used to successful locate and recover:

  • Commercial Jet Aircraft: >1000 metres deep
  • Military Surveillance Aircraft: >2000 metres deep
  • Military Helicopter: >2000 metres deep
