ROV Code Of Practice Updated

This revised guidance updates and replaces the earlier versions published in 2003, 2001 and 1997. It contains guidelines and recommendations for the maintenance of a high level of safety and efficiency across the industry. However, it does not attempt to replace the need for contractors themselves to maintain comprehensive operations manuals and procedures.

The advice given in the code is intended to apply anywhere in the world, but it is recognised that some countries will have regulations that require different standards or practices to be followed. Local or national regulations always take precedence over this code.  The code is a dynamic document and the advice given in it will change with the development of the industry. We intend to review it on a regular basis making necessary improvements.  

IMCA will shortly produce an updated ‘Guidance on ROV operations' CD, which will include this updated Code, the revised IMCA R 002 - ‘Entry level requirements and basic introductory course for remotely operated vehicle personnel' which was published earlier this year, and the rest of the current range of IMCA Remote Systems & ROV Division and core activity guidance, information notes and safety flashes.
