Fugro has decided to re-focus its cable business by closing the Seattle office of Fugro Seafloor Surveys Inc. with immediate effect in order to concentrate its global cable work through two offices, one in Bremen in Germany (Fugro OSAE GmbH) and the other in Singapore (Fugro Survey Pte Ltd).
Both companies have long experience in the cable industry and a long tradition of operating globally. Local support will continue to be provided by the worldwide network of Fugro operating companies.
Fugro continues to invest in the industry through newly dedicated survey vessels.
Members of the US Geological Survey were filmed while out on the Missouri River at Williston, North Dakota, USA, performing a hydrographic survey to monitor the state of riverbed erosion. They were using a multibeam echo sounder which transmits sound energy and analyses the return signal (echo) that has bounced off the riverbed or other objects. Multibeam sonars emit sound waves from directly beneath a ship's hull to produce fan-shaped coverage of the riverbed.
