Technip USA Extends Master Services Agreement

UTEC Survey has been awarded a two-year extension to its existing Master Service Agreement (MSA) with engineering and construction company, Technip USA (Technip). UTEC will continue to provide an extensive range of survey services, including pre-lay surveys, pipelay support, cut-to-length calculations, as-laid and as-built surveys, acoustic spool piece metrology and onshore dimensional control surveys.


Offshore work will be conducted from the deepwater pipelay vessel Deep Blue, the deepwater construction vessel Deep Pioneer and other vessels as required.


In addition, UTEC will provide survey equipment and personnel to support Technip's offshore construction projects in the Gulf of Mexico and other areas as needed.


UTEC, who has been providing offshore survey and positioning, as well as shore-based dimensional control services to Technip since 2007. "We see this contact extension as a tremendous vote of confidence in our company, our services and the ability of our personnel," says Dave Ross, Senior Vice President & General Manager of UTEC Survey, Inc. "The contract confirms UTEC's position as a leader in the provision of offshore surveying and positioning services."

Hydrographic Survey of Riverbed Erosion

Members of the US Geological Survey were filmed while out on the Missouri River at Williston, North Dakota, USA, performing a hydrographic survey to monitor the state of riverbed erosion. They were using a multibeam echo sounder which transmits sound energy and analyses the return signal (echo) that has bounced off the riverbed or other objects. Multibeam sonars emit sound waves from directly beneath a ship's hull to produce fan-shaped coverage of the riverbed.
