Capture Dome Lowered in Gulf

  07/05/2010
Crewmembers aboard the motor vessel Joe Griffin look on as the mobile offshore drilling unit Q4000 lowers a pollution containment chamber 6th May 2010.

Capture dome for the leaking oil well to be put in placeIs its the First time this technique is applied at a depth of 5,000', at this depth it never was tested before.

The chamber was designed to cap the oil discharge that was a result of the Deepwater Horizon incident. U.S. Coast Guard photo by Petty Officer 3rd Class Patrick Kelley.

what should be done is a conicle inner suction head should be installed on the inside of this containment dome. Instead of allowing the oil to flow freely suction should immediately be started to soas to equilize pressue inside and outside the dome and hoses which are tranferring the leaking oil to the surface. The suction should be low enough inside the dome so as to allow methane hydrates to pass and collect in the top of dome where methanol can be pumped in tto melt the ice which forms. Also there shold be multiple connection ports retrofitted to the top of the ddome so as to ventilate the dome when methane gas builds up. On the surface they should use multiple oil and water separators to distribute separated oil into waiting tankers. This is hjow you control this leak instead of trying to stop it. I know this would work. Anyone wanting to speak to me on this can reach me at morganlevally@yahoo.com or morgan@morganmarinellc.com Morgan LeVally - 13/06/2010 - 04:16

Build a big heavy duty hydraulic clamp to grab on the pipe then a big hydraulic cylinder with a tapered point built all in one unit then lower it over the pipe clamp it and plug it ALVIN BUNGE adbunge@yahoo.com - 16/05/2010 - 16:01

Is there a releif valve at the top of the dome to prevent pressure build up while connecting to the tanker above. To allow the oil to free flow through the dome untill the oil is flowing up to the tanker could be of advantage. Charles Kremer - 11/05/2010 - 10:39

hope this containment dome works! keep us informed Aida Zakka - 07/05/2010 - 14:44
