Testing on Ocean Therapy Solutions Centrifuge Device04/06/2010 |
| Ocean Therapy Solutions, (OTS), owner of a centrifuge oil separating machine, received authorisation to begin deployment of its devices to a staging area on 18th May, where the machines were used testing with samples provided by BP onshore. On 29th May, BP gave clearance to OTS to access the open blue waters of the Gulf to conduct a test of its machines on the oil slick. | ||
Since that time, OTS has been outfitting the machines and barges to maximise their performance in the deep waters of the Gulf. Adjustments were also made to the machines to accommodate oil that has been weathered and hardened by dispersants.
Two large V20s, each weighing 5 tons, are currently being installed on barges for deployment to the deepest waters of the Gulf today. Another V20 will be deployed in the shallow brown water. Testing is expected to begin tomorrow.

Demo of RIEGL Airborne Bathy Scanner in Camcopter UAV
It's not an AUV but a UAV. So an unmanned vehicle, but in the air instead of underwater. This movie shows a demonstration of the bathymetric laser scanning capabilities of the RIEGL VQ-820-GU hydrographic airborne sensor in reality. For more information on the technical side, please see the news release on Hydro International.
