YSI Castaway Demonstrations

  28/07/2010
OSIL, UK, are offering demonstrations of the YSI CastAway, a profiler that gives oceanographers, hydrologists, and surveyors the ability to instantaneously view profiles of temperature, salinity, and sound speed from any dock, bridge, or boat. With three taps of a magnetic stylus pen, simply drop the CastAway CTD in the water, pull it up, and have conductivity, temperature, depth and sound velocity measured in minutes. An embedded LCD screen provides easy access for setup, deployment, and immediate data review.

YSI CastawayIntegrated GPS virtually eliminates the need for field notes. The beginning and end of every cast is logged to the internal recorder with position and time. The included GIS software automatically downloads data from each of your CastAways via BlueTooth to show the location of each cast on an interactive map. Analysis, plotting, editing, and exporting of data are quick and intuitive tasks.

The new CastAway can be easily used as a check to ensure high end CTD operation prior to deployment, check high end SV probes prior to deployment or be used to collect simple shallow SV and CTD profiles to 100m.
