CodaOctopus Expands Sales Team

  19/08/2010
CodaOctopus Products has expanded its sales team with the appointment of Ben Hinett. This timely move will help to meet the continued healthy level of enquiries for Coda and Octopus products and to strengthen the company's response to worldwide interest in its unique Echoscope 3D real-time sonar technology.

Ben Hinett

Ben's wide-ranging experience in the subsea industry began when he joined Thales GeoSolutions (formerly Racal) in 1999. Subsequently he was employed at Subsea 7, the Bristol Port Company and most recently at SEA as operations engineer, where he worked with the company's sales and technical support teams.

As part of the Edinburgh (UK)-based sales team, Ben is responsible for the complete CodaOctopus product range with a focus on commercial marine product enquiries originating from North, South and Central America and the Caribbean countries. The military and harbour security expertise of the sales team at CodaOctopus Americas will continue to work with customers seeking specialist defence solutions. As with the other sales team members, Ben will play a hands-on role in the busy programme of worldwide Echoscope trials and demonstrations.

Stephen Auld, CodaOctopus Managing Director said of the appointment, "Ben joins us at an exciting time for CodaOctopus as we see the unique benefits of Echoscope 3D real-time technology penetrating more new markets. His skills and experience in the subsea industry are a perfect match with our product range and we're confident that he will both compliment and expand our capabilities."

Hydrographic Survey of Riverbed Erosion

Members of the US Geological Survey were filmed while out on the Missouri River at Williston, North Dakota, USA, performing a hydrographic survey to monitor the state of riverbed erosion. They were using a multibeam echo sounder which transmits sound energy and analyses the return signal (echo) that has bounced off the riverbed or other objects. Multibeam sonars emit sound waves from directly beneath a ship's hull to produce fan-shaped coverage of the riverbed.

Gauge height at the Williston gauge was approximately 27.65 feet when this video was taken. Additional information about the USGS streamgauge at Williston is available at http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nd/nwis?program=nwisman&site_no=06330000
