SeaBat for Geocean

  05/11/2010
The French company Geocean primarily focusing on marine operations has awarded RESON a contract to deliver a Sea¬Bat 7101 solution. The solution includes RESON's PDS2000 software. Geocean is going to use their newly acquired equipment to solve a specific and predefined task. They have to conduct a large-scale project where three pipes has been placed in line over a length of 5km. The pipers are placed from shore base to offshore.

The SeaBat 7101 is selected for surveying and monitoring the trench and pipe-lay progress. The PDS2000 software is used for data acquisition, data processing and charting.

The pipe lay barge is equipped with various sensors. Among other positioning systems, attitude sensors and USBL (Ultra- Short Baseline). PDS2000 is used to monitor the barge position and the position of the seahorse which places the pipes in the trench as well as the stone dump process.

After pipe-lay process the trench will be back-filled using stone dumping vessels. To monitor the stone dumping the PDS2000-Stonedump module will be used.

RESON engineers have been onboard to set-up the system , Geocean is operating all delivered equipment themselves after an initial training performed by RESON.
