108th IMarEST Annual Dinner Address

  27/01/2011
Robert Thompson, first deputy managing director of SCF-Unicom is to be the guest speaker at the 108th Annual Dinner of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, UK, on Friday 11th March 2011.

"We are delighted that Robert Thompson will be joining us at this key event and speaking on such a vital topic as encouraging people to take up engineering and follow - as he has done - a career at sea and into the maritime industry," says Dr Marcus Jones, Chief Executive of IMarEST.

"No topic could be more important in these challenging times for the industry. The Annual Dinner also provides the first opportunity for our new President to speak; Professor John Carlton, Professor of Marine Engineering, School of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences at City University London, will be the 109th President and will take office on Thursday 10th March 2011 at the Institute's AGM. Rear Admiral Bob Love OBE, created CB in the New Year's Honours and Director Ships, DE&S, Ministry of Defence, will respond on behalf of the guests.

"The Annual Dinner brings together engineers, seafarers, scientists and technologists involved in all aspects of, and disciplines in, the marine industry from above water to subsea, and this year's promises to be a most interesting, thought provoking and - as ever - enjoyable evening. We look forward to seeing a great many of our members, and their guests, from around the world filling the Grosvenor House Ballroom."
