Shell Trials on New Admiralty ECDIS23/10/2003 |
|
Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Ltd (Shell) is the latest big name in international shipping to join sea trials of the new Admiralty ECDIS Service. This service, developed by the UK Hydrographic Office to provide official electronic chart coverage on a global scale, combines Electronic Navigation Charts (ENCs) and Admiralty Raster Charts (ARCS) within a single, easy to manage package. The Admiralty ECDIS Service has been designed to assist shipping companies seeking to minimise risk, reduce paper charts and meet IMO electronic charting regulations. UKHO will automatically replace ARCS charts with new ENCs as they become available, at no additional cost to the shipping company. The new Admiralty ECDIS Service will be officially launched in autumn 2003. Source: The United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (United Kin Website: http://www.ukho.gov.uk Comments (0): |
