| A new acoustic warning system for porpoises has been successfully tested. Porpoise alarm (PAL) imitates the communication sounds of porpoises in order to protect the animals from deadly fishing nets. The most common cause of death for porpoises is by being caught, entangled and drowned in fishing nets.Marine biologist Prof. Boris Culik presented the results at the 25th conference of the European Society for Whale Research in Cádiz, Spain. |
