NOC to Host IEEE AUV2012

  21/07/2011
Every two years the Oceanic Engineering Society (IEEE-OES) sponsors a collaborative conference to bring together those working in the field of autonomous vehicles for ocean applications. On 24th and 25th September 2012 the National Oceanography Centre (NOC) in Southampton, UK, is to host as the first non-US organisation the AUV2012 conference.

IEEE has been organising AUV events for longer and was having its eye on Europe for a new edition. Gwyn Griffiths (head Ocean Technology & Engineering at NOC) volunteered the NOC in Southampton.  Previous conferences have attracted around 80-100 delegates (the NOC has potential to host up to 112). A small exhibition will be made alongside the conference with exhibition space dedicated to sponsors. There will also be an extensive social programme alongside the conference, including welcome drinks, a gala dinner, poster sessions and conference lunches.

Companies interested in reaching an international audience of AUV specialists can contribute as a sponsor for this event.  A number of sponsorship packages have been developed from sponsorship of social aspects of the event to contributing to the delegate packs given to attendees. Sponsorship will attract a number of benefits including display space within the NOC during the conference and sponsoring organisations having their company logo added to all promotional materials related to the event. For more information, Aidan Thorn (adft@noc.soton.ac.uk) is available.

The website for the conference will go live shortly and a call for papers will be announced in due course.
