Expanded North Sea Data for GIS Use06/09/2011 |
| SeaZone Group, UK, has increased its North Sea data coverage for use in GIS. This is a timely development for many of its customers in view of the increased renewable energy activity in Denmark, The Netherlands, Germany and Norway. The coverage is to extend into French and Canadian waters, whilst its worldwide coverage boasts data availability for the USA and Gulf region. |

For much renewable energy activity, decisions are made on the best available information and 80% of that information is location-based. By using a geographic information system (GIS), SeaZone customers make better-informed decisions by having a detailed map backdrop for project planning and spatial assessment.
Typically the majority of SeaZone customers return to obtain data as they find it a resource for bathymetry, natural physical features, structures and obstructions and other data that can better help them understand, analyse and share their organisational data far more effectively.
In the UK, renewable energy customers of SeaZone saw GIS applications, for example, helping reduce survey extents, bidding for the most viable energy production areas, attaining less hazardous routes to connect power cables to a national grid and most importantly decisions remain well informed and timely.
