Submissions Sought for Steve Ritchie Student Paper Award

  12/10/2011
Hydro International is introducing the Steve Ritchie - Student Paper Award for the best student paper written by students graduating in 2011 in the field of hydrography, oceanography or other hydropgraphic/oceanographic-related studies (i.e. Marine Environment, Marine Law, Marine Geology, Marine Physics, etc.). The paper should contain a significant hydrographic element. As a rule of thumb, submitted papers should be of technical interest to the readers of Hydro International. The submission deadline is 31st December 2011.

 Steve Ritchie

Hydro International is calling upon all students, either at academic institutes (PhD and MSc level), or at applied institutes (IHO Cat. A and Cat. B. or equivalent) graduating in 2011, to submit their paper so as to participate in the competition. Every paper will be evaluated in relation to the level of the course, which means that each paper has an equal chance of winning.

Winner of the title will be granted the Steve Ritchie - Student Paper Award 2010/2011 and will be invited to Oceanology International '12 in London to receive the award, at the expense of Hydro International. The top-three students will be given the opportunity to present their papers during a special award ceremony during OI '12 and will be rewarded with a ticket and accommodation. Both the winning student and the other selected students will be given the opportunity to publish their work in Hydro International. Papers will be reviewed by the editorial board of Hydro International.

If you require further information on the suitability of your topic for inclusion in the competition, on guidelines or if you require any other help, please send an e-mail to mailto:durk.haarsma@geomares.nl or call Hydro International at +31 514 561854. Papers can be submitted using the address studentpaperaward@geomares.nl
