Coastal Mapping During Lidar Conference

  16/11/2011
Over two days the European LiDAR Mapping Forum (ELMF), taking place at the Salzburg Congress, Austria on 29th and 30th November 2011 will focus on the use of Lidar during two whole sessions dedicated to Coastal Zone, Flood Plain and Bathymetric Lidar.

The gap between land and sea is amongst the most challenging data to acquire. Todd Mitchell, Remote Sensing Manager from Fugro Consultants, addresses the subject of how best to gather survey data in the land/water interface with a review of mobile laser scanning, satellite imagery and airborne geophysical surveys. He will include the advantages and disadvantages inherent with Lidar (both topographic and bathymetric) technologies as well as ancillary technologies and the trade-offs principally between cost and quality.
