Polaroid Product-testing Conductivity06/12/2011 |
| Sunglasses manufacturer Polaroid has chosen to carry out product testing using OSIL's Atlantic Seawater Conductivity Standard. The tests are designed to simulate the ageing of the product, and include various chemicals and other substances encountered in the usual life of sunglasses, such as sun lotion and hair products, as well as the stresses imposed on the glasses when being unfolded and worn. |
|
The sunglasses are subjected to the equivalent of about two years worth of use, and are exposed to OSIL's Atlantic Seawater to replicate the familiar scenario of dropping sunglasses in the sea, swimming in the sea or sailing.
This filtered natural ocean water (S = 35) may be used in a wide range of applications including field probe calibration/checks, chemical analysis, particulate studies, corrosion testing and any other applications which require open-ocean seawater.
The Atlantic Seawater "was chosen for its consistency, offering real life replicability at an affordable price".
Dr Richard Williams, managing director of OSIL, commented that this is another fascinating use for OSIL‘s seawater products, which have included thalassotherapy treatment for racehorses, psoriasis treatments, and product testing for marine paints.
