Multi-parameter Real-time Instrument for ROV Use14/03/2012 |
| AML Oceanographic has announced Metrec•X, an externally-powered, multi-parameter instrument that enables you to change the instrument’s sensor load, in the field and on-demand. The Metrec•X can accomodate as many as five Xchange sensor-heads on the end-cap, allowing you to configure the focus of your research on an application by application basis. The instrument can log data and/or output data in real-time. |
|
With Metrec•X, dissolved oxygen can be swapped for turbidity, shallow pressure sensors can be swapped for deep, and temperature range can be extended or tightened, as needed. One single instrument meets multiple deployment requirements.
Field-swappable sensors also streamline recalibration: instead of sending the entire instrument back to a recalibration centre, calibrated sensor-heads can be sent to the instrument. Changing sensors is easy: simply unscrew one sensor-head and replace it with another.
The Metrec•X offers high-speed 25Hz sampling, ensuring excellent data resolution. The Metrec•X can be ordered with additional analogue or digital channels, for use with 3rd-party sensors.

Demo of RIEGL Airborne Bathy Scanner in Camcopter UAV |
It's not an AUV but an UAV. So an unmanned vehicle, but in the air instead of underwater. This movie shows a demonstration of the bathymetric laser scanning capabilities of the RIEGL VQ-820-GU hydrographic airborne sensor in reality. For more information on the technical side, please see the news release on Hydro International.
