Partnership Between Sonar Equipment Services and Sonardyne18/06/2012 |
| Recognising the benefits of Sixth Generation (6G) acoustic technology, Sonar Equipment Services has placed its first order with Sonardyne International Ltd. The order for Sonardyne’s subsea navigation and data telemetry technology includes ROVNav 6 LBL transceivers and Compatt 6 positioning transponders. |
|
Based in Great Yarmouth, UK, Sonar Equipment is a leading supplier of high-grade geophysical, oceanographic, ROV and hydrographic marine survey equipment to the offshore sector. In order to achieve the highest levels of equipment utilisation, Sonar Equipment has opted to equip its Compatts with the highest grade Paroscientific DigiQuartz pressure sensors, inclinometers and sound velocity sensors. The equipment will be added to the company’s rental pool from where it will be made available for global subsea positioning projects.
6G products utilise Sonardyne’s ultra-wideband width, digital ranging and telemetry protocols developed to increase the precision, speed and reliability of acoustic positioning and aided inertial navigation operations. The platform has been proven to deliver significant operational savings, allowing multi-user subsea construction survey tasks to be completed in less time than was previously possible.

Demo of RIEGL Airborne Bathy Scanner in Camcopter UAV |
It's not an AUV but an UAV. So an unmanned vehicle, but in the air instead of underwater. This movie shows a demonstration of the bathymetric laser scanning capabilities of the RIEGL VQ-820-GU hydrographic airborne sensor in reality. For more information on the technical side, please see the news release on Hydro International.
