ASV mapping Apalachicola Bay (FL, USA)05/06/2007 |

Woods Hole Science Center incorporated an Autonomous Surface Vessel (ASV) into seafloor mapping operations in June 2006. The ASV is designed to operate in shallow-water (1-5m) and will be used to map surficial sediment distribution and thickness, and seafloor morphology (depth). The WHSC has ‘named' the vehicle IRIS (Independently (or) Remotely Influenced Surveyor). The scenes of this movie are submitted by Thomas F. O'Brien. Details about the ASV and the mapping survey.

Demo of RIEGL Airborne Bathy Scanner in Camcopter UAV |
It's not an AUV but an UAV. So an unmanned vehicle, but in the air instead of underwater. This movie shows a demonstration of the bathymetric laser scanning capabilities of the RIEGL VQ-820-GU hydrographic airborne sensor in reality. For more information on the technical side, please see the news release on Hydro International.
