Automatically Updating Bathymetry

  21/08/2012

This video provides a demonstration of a bathymetry mapping system that dynamically updates as the ship passes over new, uncharted terrain. The system was created using open source tools, and runs on a Linux server aboard the UWM R/V Neeskay on the Grand Lakes, USA. The vessel is operated by the School of Freshwater Studies in Milwaukee, USA.

Demo of RIEGL Airborne Bathy Scanner in Camcopter UAV

It's not an AUV but a UAV. So an unmanned vehicle, but in the air instead of underwater. This movie shows a demonstration of the bathymetric laser scanning capabilities of the RIEGL VQ-820-GU hydrographic airborne sensor in reality. For more information on the technical side, please see the news release on Hydro International.
