Blueprint Subsea Launches Oculus MD-Series

Blueprint Subsea has introduced the new Oculus MD-Series – a range of 4,000m depth-rated single and dual-frequency multibeam imaging sonars.

Built around the proven M-Series sonar dual-frequency technology, the Oculus MD-Series multibeam sonars provide exceptional image clarity throughout their field of vision. The sonar units accept a wide variety of connection options, making them ideally suited to installation on a multitude of work-class ROVs, manipulators, pan-and-tilt mountings, AUVs and other subsea infrastructure. The Oculus MD-Series multibeam sonars are compact in design and benefit from a shared form factor across the range. A lightweight but rugged titanium housing delivers an impressive 4,000m depth rating.

The Oculus MD-Series consists of three variations: the MD370s, a single-frequency (375kHz) multibeam sonar designed to be used for long-range navigation and situational awareness; the MD750d, a dual-frequency (750kHz/1.2MHz) sonar ideal for ROV navigation, situational awareness and high-resolution imaging of near field targets; and the MD1200d, a dual-frequency (1.2MHz/2.1MHz) sonar with a much higher image definition capability for specialist inspection tasks.
