Get Mobilised for Hydro16

The IFHS event Hydro16 is to take place next week from 8 to 10 November 2016 in Rostock-Warnemünde, Germany, at the Hohe Düne venue near the marina. Over 300 delegates have already registered. The programme offers more than 50 presentations, on-water demonstrations, workshops, a trade show and various social events creating networking opportunities. It will be the place to be for hydrographic surveyors aiming to update their knowledge on what’s going on – so it’s time to mobilise!

The conference programme includes of course the opening ceremony with contributions by Holger Klindt en Rob van Ree followed by Mathias Jonas and Robert Ward. They give the floor to the keynote presentations by Peter Ehlers (World Maritime University) and John Hughes Clarke (CCOM/JHC). After these official moments, the regular programme starts with presentations about perspectives on hydrography, multibeam echosounding, software and data; remote and space hydrography, airborne Lidar bathymetry, nautical charting and nautical information – and challenges in the offshore wind business. Aside from this, there are on-water demonstrations where  delegates can experience the equipment and software in real life; there also are user workshops and seminars to answer questions or explore features that they may not (yet) be aware of.

To see what’s available on the market, there are 50 companies represented on the tradeshow. It’s a range of  international businesses covering the entire hydrographic profession.

Social Programme

A special thought of the organisers went to the delegates – they can’t be asked to concentrate every moment. There’s a social programme that includes an icebreaker social on Monday 7 November. The conference dinner is to take place on Tuesday 8 November; and a buffet reception is scheduled for Wednesday 9 November in the evening.

Registration for Hydro16 can be arranged online up to Friday 4 November 2016; Onsite registration (cash only) opens on Monday 7 November 2016.
