Workshop Harbour Approach
The HSB will organise a workshop on harbour approach, to be held in Ostend, Belgium, on Friday 29th November 2002. The preliminary programme for the workshop includes five presentations:

  • Jeroen van Reenen: Super ENCs for approach and berthing in the port of Rotterdam
  • Johan Verstraeten: Development and production of Schelde ECS for pilots on large vessels
  • Rein Midavaine: Experiences with Schelde ECS
  • Mart de Goffau: Data management for the integration of data from ENCs Schelde ECS and inland ECDIS
  • Peter de Wolf/Toon Verwaest: A new entrance for the port of Ostend

Website
An update on the status of the HSB web-site. The design phase is over and the board has made a decision regarding the new look and feel. This design is now being implemented and we hope to have the new site up and running by the time you read this update, i.e., in October 2002. Together with the web-site, the design for a new HSB logo will be introduced.
Although the board felt and still feels that the need for an active site (with discussion groups, links to vacancies and a help-desk for surveyors) remains real, we are beginning with a basic site where information is available to all readers, as we have at present. The board is of the opinion that in this way member input may continue to be received and any suggestions and remarks about the new site be taken into consideration for further development.
You are invited to visit the HSB web-site at http://www. hydro graphicsociety. nl. Suggestions for the contents of the web-site may be mailed to t.h.heringa@dnh. rws.minvenw.nl.
