Packed Oceans’16 MTS IEEE to Open Its Doors

The Oceans’16 MTS IEEE conference, to be held from 19-23 September 2016 in Monterey, USA, is looking forward to offering its approx. 2,000 delegates access to 130 exhibitors, 11 tutorials, eight workshops and a record number of 510 technical presentations. All is set for it to become an exciting week of sharing information, networking and professional discussions.

The Oceans’16 MTS/IEEE conference is to be held at the Portola Plaza Hotel and the Monterey Marriott, with plenary sessions at the Golden State Theatre. The subjects of the technical presentations cover the wide range of the hydrographic and oceanographic workfield from AUVs to marine law and policy; from hydrodynamics to pollution monitoring, clean-up and remediation and from marine GIS and data fusion to real-time quality control of oceanographic data – to name a few examples. Add to this programme a student poster presentation and the tutorials (registration required as an addition), making it clear that there’s a lot going on!

Update your Businesses Insights

The exhibition attracts 130 businesses presenting themselves on the show floor. The show is represented in both venues so whatever your interest is, you probably need your walking boots to see and learn about the newest techniques and services available. They range from survey service providers to scientific insitutions, from software to equipment like ROVs, gliders and of course sonar suppliers. All space has been sold out, so you can catch up with the latest technology.

Side Programme

Oceans has a tradition of offering a good choice of activities as a social programme. Traditional and appreciated events are the icebreaker party and the gala. Do you like to play golf? Take the opportunity to participate to the MTS IEEE Oceans’16 Golf Tournament on 18 September at the Bayonet Golf Course on Monterey Bay offering breathtaking views over the Monterey Bay and the Pacific Ocean. More on the serious side, a visit to the MBARI institute also is an option during the event.
