Riptide Autonomous Solutions at OINA

Riptide Autonomous Solutions, USA, will be exhibiting at Oceanology International North America in San Diego, taking place from 14-16 February 2017. The latest upgrades to the company's micro-UUV will be on display, and representatives will be on hand to discuss new application areas and customer requirements on site, as well as what’s next for Riptide.

The micro-UUV is a flexible tool suited for developers of autonomy and behaviours, power systems, subsea sensors, and new payloads. It opens affordable UUV operations to any organisation with undersea survey or science requirements. The micro-UUV has been delivered with sonar payloads, acoustic communications, 360 degree cameras, as well as flooded payload sections for custom end-user applications. These payloads illustrate the high degree of configuration flexibility designed into the micro-UUV and it is important to note that the Riptide µUUV with a sidescan sonar is more affordable than the nearest competitive vehicle without sensors.

According to Riptide’s president Jeff Smith, during 2016 Riptide built over two dozen systems and delivered units to multiple military, academic and commercial customers. They built up a backlog of vehicle orders as well as added multiple new development programme wins. Riptide’s rapid design and manufacturing approach is based on open hardware and software which enabled accelerated development of new features for the micro-UUV and allowed for rapid integration of new payloads. Riptide also completed a reduction to vehicle hotel power while extending the vehicle’s operating depth to 300 metres (1000 feet).

Riptide will be on stand A58 at Oceanology International North America.
