After the celebrations of World Hydrography Day in June, the AHS has been fairly quiet. The main activity continues to be the planning and preparation for HYDRO2011 Conference being hosted by the West Australia Region (WAR).

 

HYDRO2011

This international hydrographic conference is being held between 7 - 11 November 2011 at the Esplanade Hotel, Fremantle. Further information including the preliminary programme can be found via the AHS website (www.ahs.asn.au) and directly at the conference website (www.hydro2011.com).

 

AHS Awards

The AHS has an awards scheme to recognise the professionalism and service to our industry as well as to promote education in hydrography and related fields.

 

The awards for 2010/11 have just been announced with the majority of awards being presented at HYDRO11. The Awards timetable for 2011/12 has yet to be finalised, however, the provisional timetable is as follows:

 

End Dec 2011- Advertise awards to public (website, etc) and call for nominations

End Apr 2012 - Nominations Close (4 months after opening)

May - June 2012 - Committee considers award nominations and awardees advised.

June 2012 - Awards presented at World Hydrography Day Celebrations/AGM or similar.

Shallow Survey 2012 Conference

Shallow Survey 2012 is the 6th International Conference on High-resolution Surveys in Shallow Waters. The conference is being hosted in Wellington, New Zealand from 20 to 24 February 2012. Further information can be found on the conference website (www.conference.co.nz/shallowsurvey).
