Call for Abstracts for the Remote Hydrography Conference
The Hydrographic Society UK is organizing a two-day Remote Hydrography conference at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton (UK) on 6-7 May 2020. The organizers are calling for abstracts.
Hydrographic surveying is in the midst of a paradigm shift. The development and adoption of disruptive technologies and solutions are increasing survey capacity, capabilities and productivity like never before, whilst simultaneously reducing the risks and costs involved.
Variety of Subjects
Autonomous and unmanned aerial, surface and underwater survey platforms, remote survey command and support services, and techniques such as satellite-derived bathymetry (SDB), crowdsourced bathymetry (CSB), artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) and forward-looking sonar (FLS) are revolutionising data collection, processing, analysis and presentation.
e-Navigation and Autonomous Shipping
Through an inspiring programme of keynote speakers, presentations and panel-led discussion forums, this conference, and small accompanying exhibition, will focus on the latest innovations, applications and deployments in remote and automated hydrography. It will consider the novel approaches, efficiencies and benefits offered to the commercial survey industry, alongside the opportunities for enhanced seafloor exploration and mapping and navigational safety and the implementation of e-Navigation and autonomous shipping.
Abstract submissions may address any subject relating to the conference themes. Presentations focussing on innovation or application and those featuring case studies will be of particular interest to the target audience. All abstracts must be submitted to [email protected] by 31 December 2019. Potential speakers who have previously submitted an abstract do not need to do so again, unless they wish to take the opportunity to update it.
