Compatt 5 for Gulf of Mexico
Equipment hire companies SES Inc. and Hydroquip have placed a major order with Sonardyne International for its latest
generation LBL and USBL compatible transponder ‘Compatt 5’. The order for twenty Medium Frequency Compatt 5s was received from Houston-based SES, which is part-owned by Hydroquip. Delivery was made on 17th July. This is in anticipation of the significant demand expected for Compatt 5 within the region on a range of deepwater construction survey projects. Compatt 5 is based on a totally new electro-mechanical design and employs the latest acoustic signal processing technology. This new platform is designed to take Compatt forward, with regular upgrading of capability easily installed by the user. Compatt 5 is also fully compatible with existing inventories of Sonardyne hardware, a benefit that particularly appealed to SES/Hydroquip.
