Finnish Navy Orders Fansweep 20

ATLAS Hydrographic in Bremen has received an order from the Finnish Naval Research Institute in Helsinki for a 200 kHz Fansweep 20 shallow water multibeam system for installation aboard a new catamaran research vessel to be used for mapping operations in association with the Geological Survey of Finland. Due for commissioning this October, the portable system combining bathymetric measuring and sidescan imaging functions is being supplied together with Linux-based Atlas Hydromap online data acquisition and storage facilities supported by a CARIS HIPS and SIPS software module for post-processing of datasets. The complete assembly is also being interfaced to an autopilot and an OCTANS combined motion sensor and gyro compass.
