Wind and Metocean Data to Derisk Future Offshore Wind Farms
France-based company Akrocean has been awarded a four-year deal with Meteo-France to deliver wind and metocean data required to derisk future offshore wind farms off the French coast. Data will be delivered through the deployment of Akrocean's Windsea floating lidar.
The platforms will be equipped with other atmospheric and oceanic sensors to also cover the needs of the French Navy's Hydrographic and Oceanographic Department (SHOM) and the French Agency for Ecological Transition and Regional Cohesion (CEREMA).
Akrocean sales and projects director Maxime Bellorge said: “This is a contract to carry out all of the measurement campaigns in French waters over the next four years.
“We have worked on our offer to meet the specific needs of a state agency and we are looking forward to collaborating with the teams of Meteo-France, SHOM and CEREMA, experts in meteorology, oceanography and biodiversity.”
