Biography

Dwight F. Coleman, marine research scientist and the director of the Inner Space Center at the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography in Narragansett, RI, is a geological oceanographer who focuses on ocean exploration expeditions, underwater archaeological studies and educational outreach. He has participated in or led about 30 oceanographic research cruises. He works closely with Dr. Robert Ballard’s Ocean Exploration Trust, NOAA’s Office of Ocean Exploration and Research, and NOAA’s Office of National Marine Sanctuaries. Dr. Coleman has a Bachelor degree in Geology from the University of New Hampshire and Master and Doctoral degrees in Geological Oceanography from the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography.
