Biography

Sr (Surveyor) Fariza Muhamad Faiz graduated from the University of Technology Mara (UiTM) in 2006 with an honours degree in Surveying Science and Geomatics, with a Vice Chancellor Award. After graduating, she joined a local higher learning college, Geomatika College, teaching Geomatics-related subjects to Certificates’ students. After a short stint, she left and joined Offshore Geo‐Surveys Malaysia in 2007 to pursue a career in the oil & gas industry. There, she was trained to become an online surveyor and then set her career path to become a data processor and soon after a multibeam processor. Then she continued to become assistant supervisor of data processors at the Data Centre. In 2012, she joined PETRONAS’s Geomatics Department. With 11 years of experience, she is now responsible for establishing a standard guideline and technical specifications of Seabed Survey Data Model (SSDM) for PETRONAS in line with iOGP guidelines, maintaining all geospatial data integrity and supporting the operations’ daily requests. She is a member of the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) and a task force member for SSDM in the iOGP Geo-Information sub-committee, where she has contributed to the SSDM symbology in CAD format.
